The AI Coalition for the Netherlands (AIC4NL) is launching the AI Compass for Mental Health Care. This practical document offers policy makers, healthcare professionals and AI developers concrete tools to responsibly deploy artificial intelligence within the GGZ.
AI can contribute in mental health care to:
- Reduced administrative burden through automation;
- Faster and better diagnostics and treatment;
- More accessibility with AI chatbots, for example;
- The goals of the Quintuple Aim: better care, lower costs, increased job satisfaction, better health and equitable access.
The most important recommendation is a national, coordinated approach. Only through knowledge sharing and cooperation within existing networks can we successfully scale up AI in the mental health sector.
Read here the AI Kompas.
This document was created in part thanks to brief interviews with Floortje Scheepers (UMCU), Floriane Jaspers and Marije Wiegerinck (both from knowledge platform AI in the GGZ) , Siu-Fung Chan (Medendo, and a.o. member Supervisory Board Arkin) and Jaap Schrieke, Strategic Advisor Information Policy of the Dutch Mental Health Care.
Conversations with Pieter Jeekel, chair of the Health & Care Working Group of the AIC4NL, and Maaike Zweers of the Dutch Health Hub, also contributed substantially. The author is greatly indebted to all of them.
