The AI Coalition for the Netherlands (AIC4NL) is leading the way in driving and implementing a responsible AI transition in the Netherlands.
Since January 1, 2025, we've combined the strengths of NL AIC (the largest AI community in the Netherlands) and AiNed (the largest Dutch AI program). Together, we form AICoalition4NL, working from a unified mission, strategy, and organization. In doing so, we build upon the successes achieved by the NL AIC approach since its establishment in 2019 and the AiNed program, which started in 2021.
We are committed to building a strong international AI position for the Netherlands. We want to achieve this by expanding our reach, addressing societal issues and shaping transformations using AI. Read more about our ambitions and approach in our Strategic Agenda 2025-2027
By combining these strengths, AIC4NL fulfills three key roles: thought leader, orchestrator, and program developer.
We actively steer the economic and social debate on AI and play a central role in shaping and reinforcing the national AI strategy. We guide public opinion and policy-making by leveraging our knowledge and experience to improve policies and regulations, stimulate innovation, and accelerate transitions.
We unite AI initiatives from industry, government, knowledge institutions, and social organizations, and mobilize our community to participate in our programs and projects. By creating coherence between these initiatives and connecting them with European programs, we collectively increase the impact of AI in the Netherlands and Europe.
We develop and support the implementation of groundbreaking AI programs and tools in strategic societal and economic sectors. Our focus is on research, innovation, transition, talent development, education, and infrastructure. We target sectors where AI can make a difference as an innovation and transition accelerator.
Our network consists of high-caliber participants and influential players across critical sectors, such as healthcare, energy and mobility. This broad-based collaboration stimulates innovation and enables the joint development of solutions that have a major social and economic impact.
We guide every phase of the AI development cycle, from foundational research to application testing through pilots, and ultimately scaling proven concepts. By providing guidance on ethical and responsible AI at every stage, we help organizations not only innovate, but also create successful real-world implementations.
With our investment power, we boost the development of AI in the Netherlands. We provide tools and programs in the areas of ethics, AI skills, innovation and transition and infrastructure, supporting organizations to develop and apply AI responsibly.
Our approach combines extensive sector-specific knowledge and networks in 14 economic and social sectors. As a result, we help organizations strengthen their innovation power, realize chain innovations and accelerate sustainable transitions.
Through our collaboration with seven regional AI hubs, we are firmly rooted in the different regions, enabling us to effectively address both national and regional challenges. This network ensures that the benefits of AI are widely disseminated and that all regions can benefit from the opportunities of AI.
