We are pleased to announce that the Netherlands ranks first in the Global Index on Responsible AI, released on June 13, 2024. This achievement underscores the commitment of the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC) in promoting responsible development and application of AI for all of society. The index is based on data and assessments from 138 countries over the period from 2023 to 2024, using the largest dataset currently available regarding responsible AI innovation.
The Global Index on Responsible AI rates countries based on several criteria, including ethical guidelines, transparency, inclusiveness and the impact of AI on society. The Netherlands has achieved excellent results on all these fronts. This is due to the joint efforts of government, business, knowledge institutions and civil society organizations, which come together at the NL AIC.
Similarly, the Dutch government scores high in the index, thanks in part to their innovative attitude, set frameworks and people-oriented approach to AI innovation and implementation. Through clear ethical guidelines and transparent policies, they have laid a solid foundation for the development and application of AI that not only drives technological advancement but also ensures public trust and societal value.
Ecosystem thinking at the NL AIC
The NL AIC focuses on creating an ecosystem in which AI not only provides economic benefits but also contributes to societal progress. Through various initiatives and collaborations, we have made significant progress in sectors such as healthcare, mobility, energy and security. Our approach focuses on ensuring ethical standards and promoting social value so that no one is excluded from the benefits AI has to offer.
The Global Index on Responsible AI is completely independent and has evaluated 138 countries based on their efforts and achievements in responsible AI.
