To reinforce our vision for the development and application of Artificial Intelligence in the Netherlands, the Dutch AI Coalition has developed the NL AIC Label. An NL AIC Label is a formal recognition of (the quality of) an activity in line with the ambitions and strategic goals of the Dutch AI Coalition.
Recognition with the NL AIC label
We are pleased to announce that the ELSA Lab for Eastern Netherlands (ELSALON) has been recognized with the NL AIC Label. They meet, in the understanding of the NL AIC, the objectives and criteria established for research and development of the Ethical (E, Ethical), Legal (L, Legal), and Societal (S, Societal) Aspects of AI applications in an ELSA Lab. The ambition of this ELSA Lab is to work with residents, businesses, knowledge institutions, and government to explore how AI can responsibly contribute to the shaping of our society.
ELSA Lab ELSALON
Technology acts as an extension of humans, reflecting their norms, values and identity. Designers integrate, consciously or unconsciously, personal norms and values into digital technology. The mission of the ELSA Lab ELSALON (initiated by Windesheim University of Applied Sciences) is to explicitly include these values in the design of technology so that it meets the needs and ideals of those involved. To this end, the ELSA Lab ELSALON focuses on connecting and expanding ELSA-inspired projects within the following domains:Public Domain (Government & Education), Health & Wellness and Industry 4.0.
Learning from each other is essential
Within the community of the ELSA Labs, knowledge and experiences are shared, including from the Networking Project. This contributes to a rapid learning curve to develop and apply AI responsibly thanks to the efforts of all ELSA Labs.
Strengthening AI landscape in the Netherlands
The NL AIC Label is intended for activities that strengthen the Netherlands through research, education and innovation in and with AI. An activity refers to a public-private partnership with a multi-year duration, shaped as, for example, a program, project, a lab, or a community that reinforces the objectives of the NL AIC. The goal is for the Netherlands to reap the benefits of AI economically and socially and to join the frontrunners internationally.
