Implementing AI in Healthcare Practice
The Coding for Cure and Care (C3) Learning Community teaches healthcare professionals in the Northern Netherlands how to use AI in the care process. To successfully apply AI in practice, high-quality data, suitable AI models and tools, training and validation of those models, trained staff, and acceptance by the people who work with them are required. C3 is working to meet all of these requirements.
Partners from across the entire healthcare chain—including educational institutions ranging from vocational schools to universities, hospitals, healthcare organizations, municipalities, and AI companies—learn together from real-world healthcare scenarios. Staff members from healthcare organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, and hospitals participate in hands-on training and learning modules.
About C3
C3 collaborates with the AI Hub Northern Netherlands and the ELSA AI Lab Northern Netherlands, which investigates the ethical, legal, and societal aspects of AI in the region. Knowledge gained from the use cases is shared with healthcare organizations and educational institutions through training sessions and learning modules, and contributes in the long term to broader acceptance of AI in the healthcare system.
Hanze University of Applied Sciences leads the community. The participating educational institutions are Noorderpoort, Alfa-college, DC Terra, Firda, NHL Stenden, the University of Groningen, and the UMCG. From the healthcare sector, participants include the Martini Hospital, GGD Drenthe, GGZ Drenthe, Dokter Drenthe, Trajectum, and Frion; and from the government, the municipalities of Hoogeveen and Emmen. AI and data companies such as Syntho, MemoryLab, Evidencio, Ancora Health, and Vivenics contribute technology. Network partners include the AI Hub Northern Netherlands, the ELSA AI Lab Northern Netherlands, HTRIC, Lifelines, and Trendbureau Drenthe.
