Smarter Ships and Safer Seas with AI
Designing and operating ships is becoming increasingly complex. The offshore renewable energy sector carries out complex installation and maintenance operations at sea, and zero-emission ships require advanced energy and power systems. AI makes these systems smarter: more fuel-efficient operation, timely maintenance, safe and predictable operations, and better support for the crew on board. The Maritime AI InnovationLab develops the AI solutions that enable the Dutch maritime sector to design smarter ships and operate them more safely and sustainably.
About the Maritime AI InnovationLab
The Maritime AI InnovationLab is a public-private partnership led by MARIN. Key partners include RH Marine, HMC, Damen, NHL Stenden, and TU Delft; Nederland Maritiem Land is participating as a collaborating partner. The lab will run from January 2025 to January 2030 and offers the Dutch maritime industry a modular development environment to develop, validate, and demonstrate AI prototypes.
The lab develops AI solutions for clean transportation, safe offshore operations, and efficient planning. The focus is on zero-emission ships, risk management, and maintenance optimization.
