Activities in the AI field
We focus on building “good old-fashioned AI” decision-making systems to provide clarity on complex legal issues. The law is case-based and therefore less suited to machine learning techniques. Our decision-making systems do justice to the case-based nature of the law. Our decision-making systems take the human element into account and avoid legal jargon when necessary to ensure the target user group can understand the system’s questions. Unlike other legal decision-making systems, the software we have developed in-house can actually weigh the legal facts of a case against one another and, based on that, assess the user’s legal position. Because our employees possess both in-depth legal knowledge and the ability to apply logic, we are able to develop decision-making systems for all target groups in the legal sector.
As a pioneer within the Dutch Legal Tech community, we have taken up the challenge of spreading knowledge about the possibilities of AI within the legal domain. We offer masterclasses and courses to students at universities and colleges, as well as to government organizations, law firms, and other institutions.
Several of these organizations are now also using our software to simplify specific legal issues within their areas of practice for their clients or employees.

Why AIC4NL?
AI is not getting enough attention from within the legal world itself. Technology experts have already seen a lot of opportunities in the field of Legal Tech but do not know their way around in the legal world due to the peculiarities of the legal domain. Our goal is to show lawyers the possibilities of AI and show technology experts their way in the legal world.
