Health and Care

In early February, the ICT&health World Conference 2025 was held at MECC Maastricht. This conference brought together experts from healthcare and technology to discuss how AI can contribute to more efficient, accessible and future-proof healthcare. On behalf of the Health and Care work area, AIC4NL was also present.

One of the key insights from the conference is that AI can only scale successfully if there is sufficient focus on validation, adoption and collaboration. While AI has enormous potential, challenges such as trust in the technology and integration into existing healthcare processes remain a key factor. A science-based, structured approach is essential to prove the value and reliability of AI within healthcare. In addition, it was emphasized that AI is not intended to replace the human side of care, but rather to support healthcare professionals. By working closely with healthcare institutions, governments and technology partners, scalable AI solutions can be developed that make a real impact. Think of applications for better patient care, more efficient administration and solutions to societal challenges such as aging and rising healthcare costs.
