The new round of the MIT AI scheme is now open. SMEs can apply for funding through May 26, 2026, for collaborative R&D projects focused on AI. The total budget for the AiNed MIT AI Call 2026 is 3.55 million euros. Are you collaborating with other SME entrepreneurs to develop or innovate products, production processes, or services, and do you want to use AI for this? Then the MIT scheme might be right for you.
The program is intended for entrepreneurs who wish to collaborate with other SMEs to develop or innovate products, production processes, or services using AI. Applications may be submitted for either small-scale or large-scale collaborative projects. The eligibility criteria are the same as the general MIT criteria forR&D Collaborative Projects.
Support for SMEs through the AiNed program
SMEs play a key role in the Dutch innovation economy, including in the field of AI. At the same time, studies show that SMEs in particular face many barriers when implementing AI. The MIT AI scheme aims to help bridge the gap between potential and application, with concrete AI applications that companies can further develop to strengthen their market position. The call is part of theNational Growth Fund’sAiNed program and is implemented by AIC4NL. The program aims to make AI more accessible to SMEs. The output consists of concrete AI applications and solutions that companies can further develop to strengthen their market position.
Timeline and Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for funding, the project must fall within the key technology area of Artificial Intelligence. This means the following:
- The project contributes to the development and deployment of AI through machine learning.
- The project includes an approach for the responsible development and application of AI.
- The project offers a demonstrably new solution for one or more of the AI Coalition 4 NL’s areas of focus. AIC4NL is a public-private partnership; read more about itsareas of focus here.
