The energy transition requires smart coordination between energy hubs, energy management systems (EMS), storage, generation, and power grids. AI plays an increasingly important role in this, ranging from forecasting and optimization to coordinating flexibility and improving grid capacity utilization. Open standards and open-source energy hubs are crucial in this regard. During this session, we will explore how AI creates value at three levels of scale:
- Power grids: congestion forecasting, grid capacity, and grid-aware control.
- Local and regional energy hubs: management, flexibility, and energy optimization.
- Supply chain integration: interoperability, standards for coordinating generation, demand, and storage.
Drawing on three real-world case studies and initial findings from the Dutch-American study *Artificial Intelligence for Grid Management (2025–2026)*, speakers from Alliander, Zympler, and Tibo Energy will share their experiences: from grid foundation models and the FlexLab project (AiNed Innovation Lab) to AI-driven energy hubs that alleviate grid congestion in industrial parks.
