Breaking Barriers

With Breaking Barriers, the software company prepares for further scale-up and certification

Downtime is expensive, founders Leen de Graaf and Gaëtan Giraud know. Whether it's a wind turbine, a train or a power plant: the sooner you know that something is threatening to go wrong, the better. And let that be the specialty of their organization, Cuurios.

The founders themselves are not standing still either, currently working toward NIS2 certification and further marketing their software. In order to accelerate that process, Cuurios is participating in Breaking Barriers. In this interview, CEO Leen de Graaf tells more about this.

Improve efficiency and reliability
Cuurios is a software company that makes full use of AI. "We translate sensor data into usable knowledge. With this, we help our customers identify problems before they arise and already think about the solution," Leen summarizes the services.

"Where many companies only signal problems, we also sort out a solution and advise on plannable maintenance. This is many times cheaper and prevents your business process from stagnating. Compare it to a car: rather a timely repair than breakdown on the road."

Scaling up and certifying
After successful applications at TotalEnergies and ProRail, among others, Cuurios is ready for the next step. "The beginning was the hardest, but we succeeded," says Leen. "Now the next phase begins: scaling up, entering new markets and growing our team along with us."

An important part of this is a new European directive (NIS2) for companies in critical infrastructure. "Many of our customers operate in sectors where security and reliability are paramount," explains Leen. "Our software must meet the most stringent requirements. With that fact in mind, we can scale up and expand with confidence."

Breaking Barriers as growth accelerator
Cuurios is participating in Breaking Barriers to accelerate that process. "The program came just at the right time," Leen says. "The themes match our growth phase one to one. Thanks to Breaking Barriers, we not only get financial support, but also access to content expertise that helps us professionalize."

"The fact that we immediately start working concretely on our priorities makes it extra valuable. Breaking Barriers helps us take those steps in a structured way and with the right guidance, so that we will soon be ready for further growth in the industries in which we operate."

Partner in efficient business processes
"Our ambition is to make an impact in terms of efficiency and preventing unplanned downtime," Leen sums up his ambition. "We want to become a firm partner for organizations that want to use AI to make their business processes smarter, more reliable and more sustainable."

"So are you wondering how to use the vast amount of data to optimize your business processes? Then people should start thinking about Cuurios right away, that's what we're working towards! Breaking Barriers is helping us along the way at this stage."
