As of January 1, 2025, the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC) and AiNed have joined forces. This means that the largest AI community and the largest AI program in the Netherlands now come together in one organization: AI Coalition 4 NL (AIC4NL). With one mission and one strategy, AIC4NL builds on the successes of the NL AIC since its founding in 2019 and the AiNed program launched in 2021. This bundling strengthens the organization's clout and thus increases its impact on the responsible development and application of AI in the Netherlands.
We are working to build a strong AI position for the Netherlands
The Netherlands has great potential when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) because of its strong starting position with a robust economy, solid rule of law and excellent education and research infrastructure. Deploying AI responsibly requires a collaborative and focused approach that results in innovation, societal impact and a strong international competitive position. As AIC4NL, we are perfectly positioned to support this collaborative and focused approach, partly through the strengthening of the board with Klaas Wagenaar as director ecosystem.
To realize this, we as AIC4NL have set our ambitions for the coming years in the Agenda 2025-2027, which rests on three pillars: expanding our reach, addressing societal issues and stimulating technological transformation with AI. The commitment is that AI not only accelerates societal transitions - such as sustainable energy, preventive healthcare and strengthening democratic institutions, for example - but also realizes economic impact. The latter requires a significant increase in the responsible deployment of AI by Dutch companies and, in addition, the creation of new Dutch AI companies with international impact.
AIC4NL realizes strengthened, accelerated and deepened AI deployment in the Netherlands
AIC4NL realizes the goals from its agenda by linking its ecosystem approach to targeted tools for AI innovation. As a public-private platform, AIC4NL unites hundreds of participants from strategic sectors for the Netherlands, such as healthcare, public services, energy, agriculture, mobility, defense and technical industry. Through cooperation between regional AI hubs and national working groups, regional and national activities reinforce each other. With its investment power, AIC4NL can give a powerful impetus to AI adoption in the Netherlands. Its tools include ELSA Labs for ethics and regulation, Fellowship Grants to attract top talent, Innovation Labs for faster market introduction, Learning Communities to strengthen AI skills, Breaking Barriers to accelerate the growth of AI startups and scale-ups, and specific tools to stimulate AI adoption in SMEs. Finally, AIC4NL is working to build a strong AI infrastructure, including in particular a Dutch AI factory.
