The Impact of AI on the Labor Market and Education
In addition, Johannes Schleiss, Program Manager for AI in Education – Insight and Strategy – AI and Data at Npuls, shares his perspective on the impact of AI on the labor market and education. This perspective was developed through a literature review, interviews, and discussions with experts.
The sudden surge and intensity of AI adoption are transforming the way we work, learn, and create at a faster pace than previous technological advancements. Studies therefore show that major shifts are underway, including in the labor market. Higher education plays a key role in our ability to successfully adapt to a future where AI is an established part of life, but the rapid pace of AI developments makes it a challenge to keep curricula constantly up to date. How do you ensure future-proof curricula that prepare students for professions that are subject to significant change or may not even exist yet? AI can also present opportunities in the curriculum development process.
In this exploratory study, Npuls seeks to find answers to questions related to the interplay between AI developments, the changes we are seeing in the labor market—whether driven or accelerated by AI—and how higher education can respond to these developments in its curricula.
