Startups looking to develop formulations more intelligently and quickly using data, AI, and robotics can now apply for the Big Chemistry Startup Program.
The National Growth Fund program Big Chemistry is transforming formulation from a craft into a data-driven science. With high-throughput automated experiments and smart algorithms, research into complex mixtures is becoming faster, more scalable, and more predictable—exactly what is needed in a world where markets and applications are evolving at breakneck speed.
Are you working on a startup that integrates experiments with digital workflows and is making the transition from trial and error to predictable formulation? If so, you can now apply for the Big Chemistry Startup Program and accelerate your technology with funding, mentorship, and access to a unique ecosystem.
Who is eligible to apply for the program?
The program is aimed at startups that:
- Under five years old
- Een kleine onderneming zijn (<50 medewerkers, <€10 miljoen omzet/balanstotaal)
- Working on applications such as polymers, emulsions, and surfactants; coatings and colloids; flavorings and fragrances; adhesives; or electrolytes
What are the benefits of participation?
Selected startups will receive:
- €125,000 to €200,000 in grants
- Content-based coaching and group training sessions
- Access to a strong network of industry partners, investors, and leading research institutions
The program helps you validate your technology, make informed market and customer choices, and clearly define your business case.

You can submit an application from May through 2028. The total grant ceiling is €4 million. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as funding is available.

With support from the National Growth Fund, these parties are joining forces to accelerate the next generation of chemical innovations.
